Looking north to the cathedral

Jan and I were in town today, both picking up new glasses, doing some last minute shopping, and taking a few midwinterish pictures with the low sun and pale light. The sun has just set behind  me, but is still reflected in the cathedral windows higher on the hill.
The day had started well with a lovely sunrise (extra) filling the house with light for an hour, before the sun moved on behind the trees.

I like to catch a sunrise photo at this time of year because the sunrise has been moving nearer and nearer to south, (to the right in the photo) but on the 22 December it will reverse this trend and start to move back towards the east, and then after the equinox towards the north, until Midsummer arrives and the cycle repeats.
