Ikaalinen

My parents had to give their fingerprints and signatures for their new ID cards/passports and it turned out that the best chance to get an appointment at a police station was in Ikaalinen, a small town west of us 40-58 kilometres by road depending on the route chosen. Even there the queue was several weeks, but today was finally the day.

I drove them there and had some time to walk around in the town, while they were waiting for their turn, so I headed to the old town, or "old borough" as it's called, because it was a separate unit inside the municipality from 1858 through 1971. Compared to most small Finnish rural towns, it's much more densely built and has lots of old buildings. Even in the 19th century it was said to be the smallest, oldest and prettiest borough in Finland. Must visit again in summertime.

In the evening we headed to Tampere to cinema, to see Napoleon, except Lauri, who had already seen it, but there was another film starting and ending at the same time in the next theatre, so he went to see it.
