Delivered Liberal Democrat leaflets to Goverton homes today, having already done our village. Enzo loves the nozing around, and good exercise for me today with most of the hamlet villages up long ascending driveways from the road.

Southwell Leisure Centre
Manic day yesterday trying to establish facts, lobbying, attending District Council Cabinet meeting where £5.5m funding for a new pool was approved. One of the 6 or so voting cabinets members I know including the person I was leafleting for, and I know another as well.  

Stirred up by the Chairman of the Southwell Community Trustees and - who legally control the pool and leisure centre, there were strong objections about the 2 year continued closure of the pool due to health and safety concerns many were objecting to this aspect.

Ended up documenting the key facts and highlighting the powerful position the Trustees were in at 3am to try to draw some form of line under the chaos and suggesting options to manage the required transfer of control to the district council. 

I verbally updated my Lib Dem Cabinet member (& trustee) today and will probably email another trustee I know too as they need to make key decisions and negotiate whilst also not jeopardising the £5.5 investment a small affluent town is very fortunate to have approved.
