Bring back the light

A wild and stormy winter solstice. Glad I didn’t have to go anywhere. The day is officially around 6 hours long here at this time of year but it felt a lot shorter than that today.

Later we lit some candles, poured a glass of port and settled down to watch the Xmas episode of All Creatures Great & Small, followed by the Fall of the House of Usher. No contrast there at all, but both eminently suitable for the longest night …. or was that last night, hmmm.
