SANDERLINGS

Same beach, same time as yesterday. Different light and different birds. This time there was a small flock of young sanderlings in amongst the turnstones, ringed plovers, lapwings, oystercatchers and purple sandpipers (not to mention the gulls, pigeons and starlings). And yet whenever I get there and hang over the wall to look, it takes a minute to get my eye in and spot any birds among the stones because they're usually so well camouflaged. It was the brightness of these little birds that caught my eye.
