Up and away

A surprisingly easy journey given that we landed in Manchester almost an hour late. Despite this, we were off the plane in double quick time (hand luggage only) and dashed through the egates (no queue) in two minutes, charged through the near-deserted airport, and caught a train an hour earlier than the one we should have caught. What’s more it took us directly from the airport to Yarm, no changes required. H picked us up and we were at S’s mum’s by 7 pm.

Things have been a little complicated as S’s mum fell at home a week ago and was just discharged from hospital to home yesterday. She’s not feeling her best, to put it mildly, but at least she is in her own bed and all of us are here now. In the circumstances preparations for Christmas have been a bit slapdash.

Yesterday we welcomed our Irish catsitters D and D, and we spent a convivial evening together. By the end of the evening, Mystère was prepared to be in the same room with them as they obeyed our strictures not to look at him.
