My turn!

I've been looking at the pictures on Blip of nacreous clouds over the last couple of days with wonder and envy. I'd never heard of them before. Then at 4pm today Secondborn phoned me. 'Look towards sunset - there's something in the sky.'

I looked. Oh, wow! I summoned my step-daughter and her son who'd just arrived for Christmas. I summoned the neighbours. I watched for half an hour as this beautiful phenomenon shifted shape and colour (see also extra). Gradually it faded. 

It was astonishingly difficult to photograph with autofocus and even harder with manual focus but what a present!
