Wound up in Wexford

Sunset

Moving on from La Fortuna.  An early start, to get a bus down to Lake Arenal, then a crossing in wind and rain, with absolutely no views.  Though I did rather like the photo in extras reminiscent of Sycamore Gap.

45 minutes after landing and getting into another bus, we stopped for a comfort break in sunshine and wind.

We were lucky that our rooms were ready when we arrived shortly after 12 noon.  The hotel is spread out on a large, steeply sloping site – they provide shuttle buses to get around.  We had a relaxing afternoon, though poor W has picked up a bad cold.  I had a lovely lunch at the hotel restaurant overlooking a small lake - 3rd extra.

Then a glorious sunset over the Pacific - 4th extra (if/when I can persude our flaky internet to let me add it) is the view from outside our hotel room – which gradually got increasingly colourful as we drove to our next activity – a night walk.  As we disembarked from the bus, I got the main blip.

During the night walk, we saw a number of interesting things, the main feature was probably a Kinkajou – honey bear – running around in the tall trees. But we also saw a frog, stick insects, a bark scorpion, several sleeping birds. But no successful photos.

Afterwards, we had a lovely meal in a restaurant just across the road from the hotel.
