Old Scatness

Spent part of this afternoon walking and taking photographs on Scatness -always a delight. Lots of bird life around, including some very dramatic Arctic Skua attempts to predate the Arctic Tern nests (which were rebuffed).

However, I've blipped the Iron Age Broch and Village at Old Scatness - this looks particularly lovely at the moment with the wild flowers around the site in full bloom.

This is as close as I expect to get to the Broch this year - staff shortages at the Shetland Amenity Trust mean that access to is going to very limited this year. If you happen to be in the area on one of the open weekends, do have a look - I suspect that most of the visitors this season will be cruise ship groups.
