Well what a strange day. The weather was very humid. I had to go to a meeting with my boss. The route I have taken many times. I was aware recently that I passed a car park that was next to the canal. Today I decided to stop off on the way back from the meeting and have a look. I couldn't believe how awful it looked. The water was stagnant, full of gunge, and it looked filthy.
All of a sudden I was aware that there were two cyclists coming down the canal path, so stood aside to let them pass. It turned out one of the cyclists was an ex staff member that I had worked with 6 years ago. She is now retired (hence cycling about in the middle of the day) It was lovely to see her and meet her husband. they explained that the lock was broken, hence there was no flow of water.
After we had caught up, and gone our separate ways, I wandered down the canal and found all these water lilies? not sure what they are really, but they did look lovely amongst this rather bizarre setting, not made better by the heavy damp weather, and cloudy skies. Well it just goes to show every cloud has a silver ( yellow) lining!
