Pilgrimage to Fountains Abbey

It was a glorious sunny morning for our drive over to Fountains Abbey.
It has been a tradition since 2011 to join the Pudsey Ramblers for the Boxing Day Carol Service.
This follows a walk, led by the Dean of Ripon Cathedral, following in the footsteps of the monks who set out from Ripon back in 1132 to build a new Abbey at Studley Royal.
The Stray Brass Ensemble Privided the music for the carols starting with :
O come all ye faithful,
and finished with
Hark the herald - angels sing.
With readings from St Luke’s Gospel.

We were pleased to join 12 of our friends afterwards with a walk round Studley Royal.
Followed by a late picnic lunch.

Always nice to get out in the fresh air on Boxing Day, and especially when it means joining our friends for this special occasion.

Some extra photos on as an extra.
