Mid-afternoon the wind didn’t dip below 68 mph for one hour and ten minutes.  It then throttled back to a steady 59.  We went briefly along to see Phil and Caille to apologise for not being able to attend their soirée.  We then went along to see Kathleen, but she was sleeping.  As the snowy / sleety showers swept in we went to see my mother.  She indicated that she has handed in to the Police one of the bed throws she received for Christmas.  We found her in the kitchen looking for Maud, my Granny, who died in 1978.  No luck.  She calmed down when I made her a cup of tea.  I had one too.   And a chocolate mini-roll.
