A day in the life

Follow the tracks

The trains stopped going on my island in 1961 after a few years of poor profitability. All the rails were removed but the road-bank is still there in many places. Some bits are used for bicycles or pedestrians, mostly by tourists in the summer.

We decided to do a little walk in the glorious weather, following one of the trails from the west to the east side of the island. It's broken by fields here and there and when it goes through groves there are plenty of trees that makes walking slow but much of it is like you see here, a straight bank for the rails, easy to walk along. I still have a sore foot so I only joined for half the way, about 4 km, and we had a lovely walk with fika half way of course.
