Yesterday's train journey is long forgotten after the super day we had today. It turns out the new city centre is like any European city only a little less chic and more shabby. Driving here is way more civilised than Marrakech and they actually stop for pedestrians and at a red light.
The Medina is more varied and chaotic with alleyways that seem impossibly tiny leading to more and more treasures. It really is impossible to get directly to anywhere you have in mind. The best idea is just to meander and see what you happen upon. That is how we found this terrace, when all we wanted was a toilet and maybe a coffee.
So lunch was at The Clock cafe, and dinner at Palais Fes Yahya. That was a great experience, right down to the 10year old who had to help us find our way to a gate where we could get a taxi back to our Riad.
The oldest continuosly operating university - qarawiyyin - is very impressive - or at least the Madrasa which we saw.
One thing that I am still pleasantly surprised by is these Riads down teeny tiny alleys with incy wincy doors that open up into beautiful peaceful courtyards and up onto rooftop terraces.
