Purple mistress

These little wild flowers are to be found along the paths in the hills where I walk. They are not abundant but I always spot them because of their beautiful colour. Known as Purple mistress, or Moricandia arvensis, they occur in the western Mediterranean, from the Canary Islands to northern Africa, the Iberian Peninsula, Italy and as far as Greece. The goats do not eat them even though, as can be seen in the extra, they must look like quite a tasty morsel for them!

Happy Friday everyone as we head into the last weekend of 2023.
