Beautiful Brisbane

We decided to head down to Brisbane today and let Ben have the house so he didn't feel like he needed to stay in his room the whole day (but ofcourse he did!!!!).

Jon is looking for a new flat mate and had scheduled three viewings, so we tagged along and went exploring the city, while he did the viewings.

First stop was Mt Cootha, which I'd never been to before.  It was a stinking hot day, so we didn't stay long but did manage a few minutes to get a photo.  Great views of Brisbane which looked rather flat, but it isn't at all!

Then Jon dropped us off at West End as we wanted to check out some markets.  We walked from West End to South Bank, in the heat! Enjoyed it though.

I managed to convince Martin to go on the Brisbane Wheel which gave us some amazing views across Brisbane River (facing north).  Was so cool, literally, the cabin was beautifully air-conditioned.  Really enjoyed that ride.

Back down we headed to the pools on South Bank and treated ourselves to ice creams to cool down even more.   Then a walk to the al fresco restaurants along the river there to have some cold beers.

Finally headed back to Jon's place around 5 after which he took us to Mr Percival's/Felons on Howards Smith Wharfs. What an amazingly bustling place that was.  Wow, Jon tends to hang out there with his colleagues every now and then.

Finished off our day in Brisbane with a yummy Chinese meal in China Town which is right opposite his house.

A lovely, but rather hot, day in Brisbane.  And that was the first time that Martin actually spent any decent time in the City since we've been back in Oz!
