Acid Truck

Waiting at a red light is a 5000 gallon stainless steel tank trailer. It is built to DOT specifications for transportating acids on the highways. We see many of these trailers on our local highways and streets.

1830 on the diamond-shaped placard indicates Sulfuric Acid. The numeral 8 indicates that the cargo is corrosive. Sulfuric Acid is used in the refining of Copper.

There are many copper mines in Arizona so sulfuric acid is a common commodity.

It is reassuring to know that DOT has regulations to protect people and the enviroment.
