Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 296

The Summer Solstice.

Running in the warm morning mist it was another of those two dimensional days. The land and the sea collided softly almost unaware of each other's presence. The morning sounds were gentle on the ear with the wavelets lapping incessantly along the surf line. The sun burnt off the haar and the afternoon and evening became warm and very mid summery. I have resisted the temptation to blip another sunset and have stayed with this morning blip of the groyne. For the first time I have noticed that the winter storms have begun to move these seemingly invincible fixtures. This bolt needs a midsummer spanner if it is to continue to play its part in keeping the sand on Porty Beach. Without these groynes most of the sand would have been washed away by now by the long shore drift effect.
