the longest day

I had planned to get up and go and see the sun rise, but I was too tired and could not drag myself out of bed.
Instead I went to Drombeg stone circle in the early morning. It was very peaceful and quiet, and full of birdsong, but people had been there before me - there were fresh flowers laid on the altar stone and on the central grave.

As it turned out that was the best part of the day. This evening the wind and rain have returned and we are drying out in front of a fire!
Irish midsummer.
