Village living

On our last day in Southport as we were heading home, we visited the lovely village of Churchtown on the outskirts of the town. Here amongst the thatched cottages and pokey little shops, and the traditional village pubs bedecked with flower baskets and troughs I took quite a few photographs but the miserable weather meant that the light was particularly 'muddy' and the photographs simply lacked sparkle, either taken with the iPhone or camera. The scene above depicts village life at its best - quiet and ordered, with neat white-washed cottages and people going about their business, walking their dogs, cycling to visit friends or go errands... All very idyllic and what many people dream of as typically English.
