The Way I See Things

Constructive

Despite R and me suggesting to him several times that it might be good to go out to one of the local parks for some fresh air and exercise, the Boy Wonder was adamant that he wanted to stay at home today. Luckily we were able to engage him with a range of books and toys, and overall it was an enjoyable day.

He's still fascinated by the magnetic construction set we gave him for his birthday, and has started to be able to predict what will and won't work when he's building structures. The kit came with a leaflet that has a number of suggestions for things you can make from the balls and sticks, but the Boy seems to find these ideas more annoying than interesting, and prefers his own free-form designs. We were intrigued to see that most of these start with a pyramid, before branching out in various ways.

One of B's Christmas presents was a set of large wooden dominoes, and we also spent quite a while playing with these today. He enjoys a basic game of matching the spots, but he also likes to build the dominoes into houses or towers, and he and R managed to construct one tower that was taller than B himself. The Boy then instructed R to "Be the big bad wolf an' blow it down!", which R obligingly did.
