Sunny Saturday

Martin and I were out and about shopping today getting a new sisal (eco friendly) doormat, as we thought the new year merited one.

On the way back just got a blip at Morrisons Haven.

In other information, did you know that it was the wedding anniversary of Henry VIII marrying his fourth wife, Anne of Cleves in 1540. Anne was also cruelly known as the ‘Mare of Flanders’ as some (inc. her intended) likened her looks to a horse. That said, Henry had by this time a 54 inch waist and a number of sores on his legs, caused by gout.

Needless to say, the marriage only lasted only 6 months, before the marriage was annulled. Anne did ok, as she she kept her head and was also given Richmond Palace and Hever Castle as part of the deal. Anne outlived both Henry as well as all of Henry’s other wives, dying in 1557.
