The AV8 Ride Out

When I became the Gloucestershire RBL Riders Rep I decided we need more socialising so the first thing I did was arrange a ride out for today, 6th January. Fingers crossed for a nice day, by that I mean no Ice or Snow. As it turned out it was a glorious, cold, day.
We've had quite a bit of rain recently, lots of flooding in Gloucestershire particularly around Tewkesbury, just outside Gloucester itself, and in Herefordshire around Ross-on-Wye.
We saw a lot of flooded fields but didn't encounter flooded roads until we were only a few hundred yards from our destination, the AV8 restaurant/cafe at Cotswold Airport on the other side of Cirencester. There were 4 riders already there, one in the flood testing the depth with his bike boots, 'plodging' we called it in the North East. He said that it's only about six inches deep so I set off with the rest of my group following on. Made a nice bow wave which shows up in my video (yet to be processed). This also explains the Extra, as the roads were wet in places so muck was kicked up by the tyres.
Cotswold Airport was previously RAF Kemble, where the Red Arrows were based, hence the red Folland Gnat in the collage.
We had 13 turn up for the ride out, two in cars and one lady pillion with her husband. The bottom photo is some of the bikes as we were setting off after an excellent breakfast, coffee, and chat amongst ourselves.
It was a very good social event and more to be planned through the year, along with our Poppy Appeal fund raising events.
