King's Day

The kids were excited to wake to some gifts in their boots! We headed off to Ann's (in the purple hat and the woman in the thumbnail) who'd invited us and some others to hers for a special brunch - it was the absolute full works. Bucks fizz, avocado and smoked salmon, croissants, then a full English, then yoghurt and fruit! She used to own bars here and would do a hundred full English breakfasts in a morning, and you could tell! Not an easy meal to cook in a small kitchen for 14 people, give everyone a choice of eggs and get the food out hot and at the same time! Plus she wasn't even flustered! So so lovely to have this time with everyone. The lady in the purple jumper is the one who is teaching me to knit at the moment. She came here years ago (as they all did) and married and Ibicencan man. And the lady in the salmony pink scarf is Asha's dentist! Sarah is the lady who is stood between the kids, and is the one who so often makes Nate-friendly treats just for him. A morning of feeling truly looked after.
As we left, afternoon time, Stephen dropped a gift into my hands - the Brené Brown book, Atlas of the Heart. So unexpected and kind, I've bought that book for others and wanted it for myself but never actually got it!! Im very excited to have a copy!
Home for homework and for Asha to finish her beautiful watercolour jellyfish bookmarks...she's laminated them and made tassels too.Then time for dinner and a post dinner read-a-thon. Everyone had a nice drink, their favourite book, some nice music, and an hour together but buried in our own adventures.

Today I'm grateful for;
1) Ann's hospitality. She went above and beyond. Lots of hilarity throughout the morning too. It was very special.
2) Nate loving a sewing craft kit Danny bought him in Palma. He's sewn and stuffed a cat today!
3) Stephen's generosity and Danny's wonderfulness in doing the lion's share of the washing up and clearing post brunch.
