Spotted dove

We walked around Angels Beach this morning and spotted this dove perched near the walking path. Sometimes called Spotted Turtle-dove, they were introduced into Australia from Asia from the 1860s and are now common in most urban areas and more widely along the east coast.

I checked Wikipedia to find why it and related species are called Turtle-doves and found my word for the day - onomatopoeic -  as in, quoting Wikipedia, "turtle" in this case came originally from Latin turtur, which is onomatopoeic to represent the bird's song.
