Two helping feet

Spurred on by Nigel's Blip, I attacked last years unfinished Rose Garden project. It had turned in to a War of the Roses Garden, Angie wanting to keep the dandelion, buttercup, daisy patch and I with big plans. Result project stopped with only a fraction of grass dug up. A few tulip bulbs from Aldi quickly planted in autumn. Tulips were surprisingly good but now the bed looks dreadfully bare apart from the weeds, so today attacked it, planning to sow some flower seeds and maybe some vegetables or herbs. A bit late but have got to do something.

As always, when I take a trowel or spade to hand the chickens are there to help. We only have 8 large hens (1 cock) that roam the garden freely and try to destroy the very little I manage to do. Luckily the bantam Chabo chickens (25 or so) do not venture very far from the enclosure and then only on a grass and tree area.
Made good progress but need to consult Madam tomorrow as to final edging etc.

Apart from that, MrB popped over to check I was OK with the bees. He had driven by yesterday with his restored Eicher tractor, as he had promised on Tuesday, but we didn't hear him at the gate. So will have to wait again for the Blip. The Berliners are out this evening looking for deer, their last night here before returning home. Apparently been OK week and they were joined yesterday by another of Peter's hunting friends, a Dutchman, who was passing through for the night.

This evening, Franz came with 6000 liters of Eau de Vache and spread it on Luna's Frisbee field. She can't wait.....

Weather today was surprisingly good. We had little rain last night but around us there were serious flash floods, fallen trees, blocked train tracks & in our last parish, about 40km away, a lightning strike in a farm knocked down a wall & killed 20 young cows and calves.

Have a great weekend one & all.
