Marsh Harriers #7

We dropped in at Sizergh Castle this morning to try and catch up with the Hawfinches that have been seen there occasionally. Not the best time of year for them and they must have heard about the less than ideal weather as they were a no-show. We had a nice walk anyway despite the dampness, so not a wasted trip.
As the grey skies cleared a tad and the drizzle stopped, we decided to pop back to Leighton Moss to see if the water levels had dropped. They had, but with leaky wellies, I didn't fancy wading through the still almost ankle deep water in places so we didn't stay too long. Nothing new at the shore hides, but a nice little group of siskins high in the trees were very welcome.
We sat in Lillian's hide again until I couldn't feel my fingers, but it was long enough to see the marsh harriers tussling in air in the distance. At one stage there were 4 in the air at once. This male and female were chasing each other around for quite some time.
