Fergus on Watch

So much for the hope of an overnight frost and fine day today. The rain started again in the early hours. It has been falling unrelentingly all day. I feel very sorry for folk in the areas near Christchurch who are fighting rising water and flooding this evening.
The damp and cold did not stop the dogs and me from taking our walk. We did not venture as far as usual. It was very frustrating trying to photograph scenes and objects from under the shelter of my umbrella.
Here Fergus is standing perfectly still and staring ahead very intently. There are several spots on our walking routes where he displays the same behaviour. He knows where the rabbits hang out and he stands and watches and watches. Then there is a mad dash in chase of a bunny.
He was out of luck today. It was much too wet for any self-respecting rabbit to be out and about. A rabbit's little furry tummy is much too close to the ground and would get horribly wet.
The hills in the far distance are misty and I suspect it was snowing on the tops.
The very short green grasses in this image are their genuine colour. There was no tweaking of the saturation to get that intense vivid green. I love the intense hues to be found at this time of the year.
So hopefully the weather will be kinder tomorrow and the rivers and wind will drop in the badly affected parts of New Zealand. Kia kaha!
