Hockney

I went to the National Portrait Gallery this morning. Making up for the art I have missed over the last couple of years.

I still love Hockney most when he has a pencil in his hand and is drawing from life. I've attached a couple of extras demonstrating his exquisite observation and line control (not seen in the later iPad drawings).

I took a break for coffee and happily bumped into my friend Bridget who had just seen the 'Taylor Wessing'. That was next on my list.

Re TW: great to see more diversity in the portraits this year (and no red haired women holding guinea pigs) however the trend for blank expression and extended caption still persists... sigh!
