Venus and Earth

Today’s talk at the Museum was by Dr. David Wilson of the Plymouth Astronomical Society. It was called Splendours of the Solar System. He illustrated the order and size of the planets with fruits and vegetables. Venus and Earth were represented by cherry tomatoes.it was funny and very educational. He began by apologising to anyone who had come expecting a talk on solar heating panels, as had happened to him before.
Synopsis of lecture
Recent space exploration has revealed worlds of extreme heat and intense cold, planets with storms the size of the Earth, moons with ice-covered oceans where life may exist, and much more! This talk tours our tiny, but fascinating, corner of the Universe!
In the afternoon we went to the leisure pool for a swim. I disgraced myself by leaving a favourite item of clothing on a coat rack instead of in my locker. It must have disappeared within minutes. Maybe it will turn up tomorrow. Unfortunately, in the pocket there was an item of sentimental, but not monetary value, representing 50 years of marriage. At home Jacqui was ready to pelt me with rotten Venus and Earth symbols.
Later the glass on the oven door fell off.
A day to forget
