Viaduct de Garabit

On our way to St Flour (built on the top of an old volcano) we stopped to admire the Viaduc de Garabit. Designed by an engineer named Boyer it was built 1882-4 by Gustave Eiffel who used the knowledge gained here to build the famous 975 ft tower in Paris for the 1889 world fair. This railway bridge is 400 ft high above the river and 1833 ft long. Sun still shining.
