The axe man cometh

Well, I think he used a chainsaw, judging by the racket. After dealing with this tree that I noticed had been marked back in October, they moved on to the shrubby area, where the man in high-viz is standing. They spent ages in there, thinning and trimming, with one of them climbing quite high up (see extra). Their wood chipper was impressively powerful (and fast).

I suppose the last time they did any serious work back there was when they removed the shoogly birch tree. It was a lovely tree, but the shoogliness caused terrible attrition of alternately crows' and magpies' nests!
