(012) Krauss Maffei Filter

I discovered a forgotten collection of 35mm slides today, with photographs taken at the Burntisland alumina plant shortly after the factory closed down. This slide copy shows a rotary filter that was used in the process of creating aluminium trihydroxide. The machine was built by the Krauss Maffei company of Germany and was known at the works as the 'KM Filter.' Although the machine has long since been consigned to scrap, I believe the Krauss Maffei company still operates, if not in exactly the same sector. The extra is another slide copy that shows the wood-built cooling tower that remained in use until the factory closed down.
