Follow the Crowds

Waxwings have been making the news for a while, here in Derbyshire. So today, I followed the crowds to Hassop Station on the Monsal Trail to see what all the fuss was about.
It was incredible!! Hundreds of the beautiful birds and so not bothered by people. They were almost within touching distance. The winter sun obliged by lighting up the birds sporadically which improved the situation even further. In 68 years I had only seen 3 waxwings (and 1 dead one!) so this was truly a once in a lifetime experience.
