2 Weeks In

..to the new year, and finally I’ve done something interesting lol

Happy New Year :)

D & I went to visit Inchindown oil tanks, in Invergordon.  A shot from a starting pistol inside tank 1 has been recorded in The Guinness Book of World Records as the longest reverberation, at 112 seconds. They made a few loud bangs & played a bit of music to show examples. Asked us all to switch off torches, and I couldn’t tell if my eyes were open or shut - so dark!

From Wiki: There are six tanks, completed in 1941 for the Royal Navy, 9m wide, 13.5m high and 5 of them 237m long, with the 6th being shorter. They were built to be a bomb-proof supply of furnace fuel oil for the Navy base there

Extras: our 2 guides putting in the top secret code at the entry door

The “pulley” system to get us in & out

Selfie inside

The guides’ (Dave & Preston) super-lumens torch lighting up the tank - I can’t remember how many he said, but Very Bright :)
*Update, 100,000 Lumens, a gift from a previous visitor!
