Snowshoeing up to the sun

We drove to the High Coast Hotel and parked at the bottom of this hill. It's a good place to walk in the late afternoon and evening because you are in the sun until it sets behind the hills the other side of the river.
It was a chilly day, around -16°C with a slight breeze added its chilling effect, so we were well wrapped up. We snowshoed up to this shelter, well placed with a good view, and found we could sit just inside and get the sun on our faces and be away from that breeze. It was almost cosy! We had a warm drink and a bar of chocolate for the break.
The river (Ångermannälven) is completely frozen over though there is a channel on the far side where freight boats travel up to a paper mill to load up  exports. It's not unusual for the river to be frozen in January but this year the ice is thicker than usual and even the sea is frozen in many places. Sweden's 4 ice-breakers are having a busy winter.
Jan has a good blip, looking down to the river with the sun reflecting off the ice.
We made our way onwards to the top of the hill and the wind turbine standing there. We watched the sun shrink away and blink out as it went down. Then we turned downwards and walked through the forest emerging just above our car. There was a road but it only had very thin snow-cover and it was easier to walk on the slightly deeper snow in the trees.
After the sun had gone down, as we descended, it seemed to grow even colder and we were very happy to get to our car and drive homeward!
Once home we lit the stove and put a very large log onto it, warming both the room and ourselves.
We disciplined ourselves a little and went upstairs to do today's yoga. That room felt really cold and I have rarely done yoga wearing so many layers! After yoga we retreated back to the log burner, and even sat there eating our dinner and watching the flames flicker.
