Promise...

...of things to come.

After a late breakfast, I braved the cold this morning and spent a while outside planting the 'Birthday Wishes' bare-root rose - a gift from my sister and her husband - into the green pot we acquired yesterday. Doesn't look much now but, hopefully, in the summer it will be covered in bright red roses. (No idea what's happened with this one, but the colours are decidedly out. The pot is much less of a mint green!)

Just time to change out of my gardening clothes and into something more respectable before MrM drove us to Leeds for an afternoon of jazz at Seven Arts, with the Edison Herbert Quartet. Great music at a lovely venue.

We'd had no lunch, so by the time we reached the outskirts of Wakefield on the way home we were both hungry, and decided that it was too late to start cooking dinner when we got home. So we stopped at a fish & chip restaurant for a meal. The scampi was excellent!
