Swan on ice

We found a new place to walk today: Parc Tredelerch which is close to the estuary of the Rhymney river. It was created in 2003 using land that had been a landfill site. They've done a good job of creating a small lake and area of wetland with a network of boardwalks and paths. There was a rich variety of birds: swans, geese, ducks, morehens, coots and of course lots of seagulls. Much of the lake was covered with ice and it was funny watching many of the birds walking and sliding around on the ice. I've chosen a swan which had just taken off and was flying low over the ice. They are quite ungainly in flight especially when trying to take off. The extra is another swan flapping his wings and hissing at Llew when he got too close.
