Birds and more.

We arrived at Owen Sound campground yesterday evening, having only booked for one night, but it was so peaceful and beautiful we decided to stay another 2 nights.

After driving yesterday we had a quiet day at the campground and a short walk through the woods where we found a couple of frogs beside the path - if they hadn't moved we would not have seen them! There are also large trout swimming in the lake. But the focus of today has to have been the varieties of birds we have seen.

Blue Jays are fantastic, especially when flying, but we had a number posing to have their picture taken - we duly obliged. More american robins, something that looked like a larger version of a sparrow but with different markings turned out to be a 'song sparrow'. Goldfinches, which are really nothing like the ones back in the UK, were feeding from one campsites bird feeders. Eagles overhead, seagulls (just two!) by the lake, swallows catching insects or drinking from the lake on the wing, and cowbirds in the bushes round our pitch. Nearly forgot the humming birds! Such variety!

But the winner of today's photo award for me was the Cedar Waxwing, which was fairly high in a tree as we came back from the walk. Saw some more later from quite a distance too.

Thank you God for a restful day enjoying your creation.
