Criss/cross clouds

On one point on the journey from Kent to Cumbria we had a sky covered in these criss/cross clouds. I am told they are high altitude Cirrus clouds. I don't know what they indicate (I was probably told but have forgotten) but it was quite a sight.

Whilst we were in Kent we were keeping an eye on the weather and would have been prepared to stay another night or stop somewhere on the way if things got difficult. In the event however we set off this morning with temperatures higher than they have been and we had sunshine most of the way home . . . and no snow.

In fact it was one of the easiest journeys we have made and we are now home. There has been snow here and it is still on the hills, but causing no problems on the roads.

We have had a lovely few days with family. It will be a while before we see them again.
