Sea Life

Today’s art class was all about creating tonal values using pastels on black paper. The jellyfish was the first attempt. I chose the octopus over a terrapin as my second subject … easy to draw I thought!

I haven’t used pastels since just after leaving school in the long distant past when I created a poster sized copy of William Blake’s The Ancient of Days. I’d forgotten how messy they could be, but very satisfying.
