Bowes Museum

A lovely sunny day - wall to wall blue sky (but very cold). It was decided to go 'somewhere' but we didn't know 'where'.  My car decided M62 eastbound, A1 northbound to Scotch Corner then over the A66 towards Penrith.  Just off the A66 at Brough is the remarkable Bowes Museum, so we made a detour.
I find the building quite amazing, and very imposing.  Purpose built to house an Art Gallery - it opened in 1892.
Back home via M6 southbound (lots of snow visible on the distant hills of the Lake District) and A65 Skipton.  All together a most enjoyable day :-)
