Tufted Vetch

Vicia cracca

Growing up through the bushes and brambles on the canal banks, this straggly member of the leguminacae gives a bit of colour to a grey day.

The canal is busy, busy, busy. Freda Carless has gone on her travels. Fancy handling 250 tonnes of barge on the Northern Canal system?

The wet weather has brought out the slugs and snails, the path is black in places with molluscs cleaning up the debris left by the passage of many soggy travellers [and their dogs!]
