Safety First

But can it be safety first after the accident? Safety second maybe?
The picture shows Jan sticking down our new non-slip strips onto the wooden stairs. Naturally there's a story behind this. New Year's Eve (no alcohol was involved!) I was going down the stairs and slipped off the edge of a step. I have a distinct memory of being completely in mid air. Since my flying abilities are very limited I crashed onto the bottom steps, landing mostly on my back and side. I was a little shocked and lay there a few seconds, moving various bits of my body and was both surprised and very happy that everything was working. I was lucky enough to get away with nothing more than a few bruises.
Hence the decision to buy the anti-slip strips! Now I've been trying them out, ie going up and down the stairs, and they seem excellent.
Other news from the day...
I ordered a new air to air heat exchanger for Betty's. It's the same model, designed to work down to minus 30°, that we put on The Red House, and which has functioned well in this chilly winter.
Then I got a phone call from Ruth and Rose, who were sitting having a Friday evening drink in a local restaurant and had heard from Jan I was in town. What a pleasant surprise! We sat and chatted for about an hour before heading off for our respective weekends.
Once home I finished off my baking, the same bread  I baked a few days ago but a little delayed by my unexpected socialising. All finished off and the loaf wrapped in cloth shortly after midnight.
