Skippinish

It's the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow for the next two weeks. Tonight we went to the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall to see the group Skippinish celebrate their 25th Anniversary. The first part was a very retro  look back on their early years. After the interval they burst on the stage in 2024 mode. Unfortunately the reverberating bass drum beat coupled with double bagpipes was too much for us and we left early. There was a good crowd of younger folk clearly having a great time. Now we are indulging in old fogey time at home with rather gentler music, port and cheese and biscuits.
I had a great time at a tune learning workshop this afternoon held in the University of Glasgow's memorial chapel. The tutor was great and after 2 hours everyone was making a decent attempt at three new tunes. The acoustics were great so we didn't sound too bad.
