Hawea Irrigation Canal

Seventeen walkers turned up this morning, and we were soon on our way to the car park on Domain Road.  The walk took us down to the Irrigation Canal, then we soon joined up with the Hawea River.  I did my usual 5K steps, then had lunch overlooking the river.  A slow hot walk back to the cars.  +26C.  We had a welcome cuppa at a local cafe before heading for home.  I didn't see the fast walkers at the end of the day, they walked much further than us slower walkers.  I clocked up 10K steps all up, or 7 k's.

The extra is of a guy from France who is walking the Te Araroa Track, heading north.  He will be walking for another 3 or 4 months!!

Time for a well earned rest.
