Day started off nicely then began to go a bit sideways during brunch when my phone started buzzing with alerts:  Alaska Airlines had canceled our flight up to PDX & had rebooked us on a different (unworkable) day & time & model of plane - this all related to the situation on Jan 5 when the door plug blew out of the Boeing 737-9 MAX departing PDX.  So we finished brunch, went home instead of to the bookstore, then I booked us on United, as they seem to be weathering this a bit better, before canceling with Alaska.  I was on hold for hours as they wouldn’t let me cancel online despite having a fully refundable reservation. 

The FAA has just said they want a safety review of another model of Boeing plane.  About time.
