What I've Done

Between the storms

After the rains eased we started at the edge of Derwentwater - where the waves were almost good enough to surf on. We thought that with the high winds, Crummock might have water spouts, so we drove over to Lanthwaite woods and walked to the edge of Crummock water, were we were met with light winds and pretty calm water. That said, the wind damage was clear to see, as the fallen branches and trees across the path through the woods showed.

Despite the light winds at the end of the Lake, the amount of rain and snow melt from the past couple of days had caused the river to break its banks, and the weir to flood as well - there was absolutely no way to get across the bridges by the weir, not only was it about two feet deep, but the water was flowing really fast.
