Bard Ayr Day!

It’s that time of the year again when Scotsmen dust down their Jimmy Shand, polish their Krankies and don the kilt for the day.
 
All across the land they’ll head out in search of the elusive haggis with blood curdling cries of “Haggis supper, hen, saut ‘n’ sauce ……….. plenty sauce!”*
 
Returning to the homestead, placing their catch on the table with pride, it’s tradition to serve the shorter inner legs of the haggis to the weans, the longer outer legs reserved for guests or elders**.
 
Conversation during the meal will usually revolve around the delicacies in front of them;
 
“You’ve mair chips than me!”
 
“Pass thi Bru!”
 
“Did ye no git me a pickilt egg?”
 
And after the meal it’s traditional at a Burn's Supper to include the follow topics;
 
Address to The Lassies (often a recital)
Green Grow the Rashes
 
Reply to the Laddies
“Aye very good  ……………….. but yer still dain thi dishes!
 
Immortal Memory
“Ye rememberin’ it’s bin day thi morra?”
 
 
*Those of a Weegie persuasion may request vinegar as an alternative to sauce.
 
**Those of a Vegetable persuasion will have legs of equal length for all on their pudding identifying as haggis.
