Antiquaries

Bobbled around the Scottish National Portrait Gallery today with D and H. She was less than excited until we got to an exhibit and video on conservation of paintings - then we had to sit down and watch the whole process.

I went to see the Tudor and Stuart (Stewart?) paintings. I love how they vary from the naive and wooden, to the eerily modern looking. But all in such alien clothes.

These are some of the members of the Society of Antiquaries, recorded for posterity on a stair window. Half of the existing building was originally built to house the National Musuem of Antiquities, although these are now in the National Museum on Chambers Street I guess.
